A higher concentration of sperm per milliliter of semen is synonymous with longevity, according to a study in Dianamarca. The research was conducted on more than 40,000 men, who were studied between 1963 and 2001 to ascertain their physical condition.
have healthier sperm means to live for more years. A survey of over 40,000 men up to 40 years conducted in Denmark so certify.
"No matter how you analyze the risk of dying is reduced if a guy has semen of good quality at a lower quality, higher risk of dying," said Dr. Tina Kold Jensen, one of the investigators.
While the findings should not frighten the men who have regular semen quality, they suggest that medical checks should be made to prevent other diseases such as cancer testicular, says Jensen, University of Southern Denmark in Odense.
To test the hypothesis that semen quality may be related to the onset of disease and mortality, the researchers studied men referred to the Sperm Analysis Laboratory in Copenhagen between 1963 and 2001, and followed until late 2001 or until death.
Life expectancy
The authors limited the analysis to 43,277 men with viable sperm in the semen. As we increased the concentration of sperm in men, so did life expectancy.
Men with 40 million sperm per milliliter of semen were 40% less likely to die during the study than participants with concentrations below 10 million per milliliter.
The researchers also found that men who had children lived longer than men without children, which is consistent with previous studies had shown that men and women live longer fertile.
